WestUrban Developments has begun construction of what will become the Town of View Royal’s largest purpose-built rental community to-date.
The Blueprint, a four-building project at 9 Erskine Lane and Watkiss Way, will deliver nearly 340 rental apartments across 5.3-acres of land situated on a rise immediately south of Victoria General Hospital's main entrance
Standing five-storeys tall, The Blueprint’s complexes will feature layouts in studio, one, two and three-bedroom suites, with views of the surrounding area and the greater expanse of southern Vancouver Island, thanks to the development site’s higher elevation spanning from Watkiss Way along the short length of Erskine Lane.
WestUrban is involved in multiple develop efforts across the region, including a
six-storey rental building nearing completion on Admirals Road near Woodway Road in Esquimalt near the company's upcoming
six-storey rental block on Saunders Street just west of Admirals Road (at Naden Way), and two additional buildings planned for Sooke’s town centre.
View Royal, meanwhile, has seen a surge in development activity in recent years with multiple proposals moving through the planning process or having already been approved that will deliver significant density to the district.
One of the key areas of development is the Old Island Highway corridor that will see several high density buildings in the form of rental apartments and condominiums, including the recent completion of the
Maija London condominiums, the currently underway
Skyeview condominiums, and the soon-to-begin
Royale condominiums. Near the township's border on Old Island Highway at Admirals Road, a redevelopment of Craigowen Road's
Christie Point residences was approved several years ago and includes over 400-units of rental housing in multiple buildings. That effort, however, has yet to move forward.
Straddling both the urban core of Greater Victoria and the West Shore, View Royal is well positioned as a central node to Victoria’s employment opportunities, and the many retail services of the West Shore. C
