West Shore commuters will soon have a new way to access the rapidly growing Westhills community and a shortcut to the newly opened West Shore Parkway, Citified has learned.
Crews have begun work at the south end of Leigh Road on a $3 million connector that will extend the Trans Canada Highway access corridor by some 200 meters southwest to Langford Parkway.

The project encompasses upgrades along Leigh Road from Henry Eng Place to the parkway via the E&N Railway right-of-way. Cycling infrastructure, pedestrian improvements and a controlled intersection along Langford Parkway at Leigh Road are included within the scope of the work.
Funding is provided by the Westhills development as a condition of the mega-project's rezoning and approvals process.
Completion of the new connector is slated for mid-to-late summer, according to the City of Langford.
Elsewhere in Langford improvements to the busy Millstream Road Trans Canada Highway overpass are now underway, and the long awaited completion of the Bear Mountain development's new access road – connecting the Leigh Road interchange to the hilltop resort – is scheduled to open in the coming weeks. And with completion of Leigh Road connector, motorists will soon have a direct route between the Westhills community and Bear Mountain. C
