Over 150-units of purpose-built rental apartments will get underway next year as part of Langford’s Thrifty Foods-anchored Belmont Market shopping centre slated for lands formerly occupied by Belmont Secondary School.

Comprised of two five-storey buildings with a combined total of some 27,000 square feet of ground floor commercial space, the woodframe residences will be situated at the nexus of two future roads named Division Avenue (spanning along the southern portion of the Belmont Market property) and Merchant Way (cutting through the middle of the shopping centre).

The total unit count between the buildings is planned at 156 with an anticipated unit layout mix of one and two-bedroom apartments. The exact layouts and unit types have not been confirmed.

Belmont Market’s additional residential component will also include over 200-units of condominiums that will stretch between Division Avenue and the Galloping Goose Regional Trail which book-ends the property to the south. Three condominium buildings are currently envisioned, together with a townhome component with frontage along Brittany Drive.

Belmont Market, located along Jacklin Road at Jenkins Avenue, will consist of over 200,000 square feet of retail and office space. Confirmed tenants include a 52,000 square foot Thrifty Foods grocery store, a Scotiabank branch, Great Clips, Westland Insurance, Eye Etiquette plus food tenants such as KFC, Fatburger and a Good Earth coffee shop.

Site preparations began earlier this year. The shopping centre is anticipated to welcome its first customers in 2019. C
