The City of Colwood plans to hold an open house next week to explore the idea of situating an integrated health and wellness centre on lands currently occupied by Ocean Boulevard and Old Island Highway's Park & Ride facility.
The wellness centre proposal, according to municipal documents, aims to "improve quality of life for Colwood residents by providing better access to health services."
The concept for the facility is further described as "an integrated centre that would attract doctors and bring together teams of family physicians, nurse practitioners, other health-care professionals and related retail services in this central location with excellent access to Victoria General Hospital."
Although Colwood's Park & Ride could soon make way for redevelopment, BC Transit is working on identifying new Park & Ride options for the West Shore that would replace the Ocean Boulevard lot and potentially expand Park & Ride options for commuters.
BC Transit's decision to explore new Park & Ride options stems from a proposal to improve the Old Island Highway corridor in View Royal and Colwood to streamline multiple transportation options and improve safety.
The public open house on the integrated health wellness centre is scheduled for 6PM to 8PM on Wednesday, January 31 at Colwood City Hall. C
