Delta Airlines will be cancelling flights between Victoria International Airport and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEATAC) by late summer, Citified has learned.

The Atlanta-based carrier launched a Victoria-Seattle route in 2016 with three daily departures as part of efforts to establish a greater presence at SEATAC and compete with rival Alaska Airlines, which also flies between Victoria and Seattle.

Victoria International had a record-breaking year in 2018 in terms of passenger volumes, welcoming 2.05 million travellers and for the first time crossing the two million passenger threshold.

Unfortunately the growth wasn't enough to maintain a 10th place status among Canada's busiest airports. YYJ slipped to 11th place as Kelowna International eclipsed its performance for the first time. C
