“Hey it looks like a lot of our prospective new tenants use this lot, better look into this”.
You did?I clearly understood from the first posted snippet that it’s two different owners.
The reporter misidentified the situation. Killam -owns- the buildings, not merely -manages- them, as the article states.
It therefore implies Crombie owns both the shopping centre, the parking, and the rental apartments.
So we see a slant in the piece focusing on Crombie, and how the residents of an apartment building -managed- by Killam are upset with “Crombie.” But Crombie has nothing to do with the residents of a building owned by Killam, and has been overly generous by providing free parking for so many years, to another company’s tenants.
As we learn again, no good deed goes unpunished.
Their buildings are well supplied with parking. But because parking is free on a private lot next door, we can surmise a number of tenants took advantage of free parking and either didn’t feel the need to get rid of a vehicle they had nowhere to park, or got a second vehicle, because parking was free. But didn’t Killam assess the situation when they bought the rentals?
“Hey it looks like a lot of our prospective new tenants use this lot, better look into this”.
I can sympathize with someone caught off guard, but when I see anger and frustration directed at someone who had been doing you a favour (in this case it’s a company) I can’t help but shake my head.
Maybe West Shore Town Centre will be nice and hand out free parking? But something tells me they won’t be as nice as Crombie was, for three years.
Maybe it is time the city starts to charge for overnight street parking as well, At two hundred a month it would raise a lot of money for the city.
