The more I look at this building, the more it annoys me.
It's by the beach, but it's heavy and dark. The black paint and bricks bring to mind a revitalized old town loft, which is about as logical in Cadboro Bay as a Costco. Below that we have a stone facade, which has nothing to do with anything else in the design.
It kind of feels like they ripped out a chunk of Uptown and plunked it down in Cadboro Bay. Like the designer flipped through "modern traditional design magazine" and chose one element from each of the six buildings they liked, and put all of them somewhere in the design sketch.
