A mountainside condominium, perhaps the most uniquely situated of any projects in the Capital Region, is nearing completion along Bear Mountain Parkway in Langford.
The Ridge at Vista Point (Citified profile; official website), from developers Seacliff Properties and Keycorp Development, has reached its six-storey height along the 1800-block of Selenite Place on the southern slope of South Skirt Mountain offering literally unimpeded, expansive views of the Capital Region, the Salish Sea, and Washington State’s Olympic Mountain Range from its one-through-three-bed residences (ranging from 739 to 1,536 square feet plus outdoor living space). A limited collection of hillside townhomes are also slated for release in the coming weeks.
“There are views from top floors of buildings, then there are developments that are themselves set in a once-in-a-lifetime location, with incredible, sweeping landscapes from every floor,” says Mike Hartshorne, of Victoria-based South Island Home Team, the firm overseeing Vista’s pre-sales campaign.
“As Vista Point came on the market this spring, we’ve connected with buyers from across Canada, and with a location so unique to the south Island’s real-estate market, we’ve also had the pleasure of welcoming purchasers from across Greater Victoria who recognize the value of a development site that lends itself to a special opportunity.”
High atop South Skirt Mountain, The Ridge is by no means separated from amenities, schools or services. The building’s Selenite Place address, just off Bear Mountain Parkway, is a short drive from Costco, Home Depot, The Market on Millstream, Save-On-Foods, PetsSmart and downtown Langford’s many commercial destinations, along with the West Shore’s plentiful retail centres.
A new elementary school is currently under construction along Bear Mountain Parkway, adding to the West Shore’s family-friendly services and housing, and nearby schools include elementary and middle campuses, plus Belmont Secondary. A short drive away is a new Brookes private school near Royal Roads University.
Road connectivity from Vista Point is streamlined, with Bear Mountain Parkway connecting with the Trans Canada Highway on one end, and the restaurants, year-round golf and recreational facilities at Bear Mountain Resort at its opposite end. A short distance away is West Shore Parkway with its connection to Highway 14 and the many outdoor and recreational draws along the Capital’s Juan de Fuca coastline via Sooke. Victoria International Airport and BC Ferries’ Swartz Bay terminal are 30 minutes away via Highway 17, connected through the Trans Canada Highway and McKenzie Avenue.
“Vista Point’s mountainside location is away from the hustle and bustle of Victoria’s urban areas, however, the best of the Capital is close by, and transportation is simple, with connectivity to the entire region and the rest of Vancouver Island on Victoria’s extensive highway network easily accessible through the Leigh Road Trans Canada Highway interchange,” Hartshorne said.

As expected given Vista Point’s uniquely lux setting, each home’s interior finishings are equally as impressive, Hartshorne says, with Nygaard Interior Design professionally curating every layout, starting with two colour schemes for homebuyers to choose from, wide-plank luxury vinyl flooring throughout main living spaces, 9-ft. ceilings (sixth floor homes have 10-ft. ceilings), and large windows for ample natural lighting. Year-round comfort is maintained through individual heating and cooling heat pumps, and gas hookups are standard on every patio or balcony for BBQs and fire tables.
Kitchens are luxurious, with an all-Whirlpool stainless steel appliance package, a Panasonic built-in microwave, made-in-Canada soft-close drawers and cabinets, pull-out shelving in the pantry, and premium quartz counters with complementary backsplash tiles. A stainless steel under-mount sink has a black faucet to match sleek black hardware throughout, topped off with LED pot lights in the ceiling and under cabinets.
The bathrooms are spared no details with a deep soaker tub, quartz counters and tile flooring in the primary bathroom, and soft-close cabinetry includes motion-activated LED lights. Drawing design elements from the kitchen, both the primary and en-suite bathrooms include modern under-mount sinks, black hardware and faucets, and en-suites feature a walk-in shower.
On-site amenities include the Ridge Social Lounge where a full kitchen is available for hosting and entertaining friends, along with a cozy lounge equipped with a television where club meetings or sporting events can be enjoyed. A spacious outdoor patio well equipped for socializing is also be available, along with a fitness gym.
Residents will have access to a bicycle storage room, a maintenance station and a bike-wash in the underground parkade.
For pet owners, a dog wash station is available in the parkade, making clean-up easy after a trip to the park or a dip in nearby lakes.
The building’s secure parking is electric vehicle-ready and features motion activated lights for energy conservation and efficiency.
Walking trails, year-round golfing and the many outdoor activities at Bear Mountain Resort are just minutes away, and within walking distance, even. Langford’s plentiful parkland, nature trails, lake swimming and sports facilities are ideally located within a few minutes drive, as is the ocean at multiple beaches on the West Shore. Goldstream Provincial Park is close by, with its salmon spawning Goldstream River, group camping facilities, and pristine wilderness perfect for a nature day, any day.
“The Vista Point community is a rarity in our market. Mountainside condominiums are highly desirable in any market, but they remain exceptionally few and far between on southern Vancouver Island,” Hartshorne says, adding that “to truly appreciate the location and setting of this project, you need to stand on a patio and look out onto the incredible scenery of Victoria and the Island from South Skirt Mountain. There is nothing else like it.”
