On the heels of a near sell-out of its Cadence condominium project in Saanich, Abstract Developments has unveiled its latest pre-sale offering launching soon in Esquimalt.

Central Block, six-storeys tall with a collection of 99 homes in junior one-bedroom through three-bedroom layouts, will rise at the foot of the Tillicum Road Bridge on the former location of Esquimalt’s Gorge Pointe Pub (see project website).

The single storey retail complex has already been cleared as crews prepare the property for construction slated to begin in early 2023 with completion in 2025.

“We are pleased to unveil our first project in Esquimalt,” said Tavish Rai, Abstract Developments’ Executive Vice President.

“Central Block’s location along the Gorge Waterway across the entrance from Esquimalt’s beautiful Esquimalt Gorge Park, and its high frequency public transit connections, will appeal to a broad range of residents searching for attainable housing options in Victoria’s urban core,” Rai added.

The building’s ground floor will accommodate approximately 1,350 square feet of retail space with five levels of residences above. Residential floor plans will include junior one-bedroom, one-bedroom, junior two-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom homes with parking options available.

Situated at 1075 Tillicum Road, Central Block will offer excellent transit connections to downtown Victoria, the University of Victoria, Esquimalt’s town centre, Tillicum Shopping Centre and the Gorge Road corridor. Residents will be within walking distance to a Fairways grocery store and multiple amenities at a retail plaza on Gorge Road at Tillicum Road.

Dog-friendly recreational opportunities at Gorge Kinsmen Park are many, including walking trails, ample green space for games and activities, and kayaking or paddle boarding.

“Esquimalt has become one of the most desirable communities in Greater Victoria for high density living, given the community’s rich history and urban canopy, its walkable streets and proximity to Victoria’s city centre, the West Shore, and major employment nodes like CFB Esquimalt and downtown Victoria,” Rai says, adding that “Abstract considers Esquimalt to be one of the most growth-friendly communities on the south Island.”

Interior finishings will feature up-market materials curated by professional interior designers, with large windows and expansive balconies. Layouts will include generous storage and flexible spaces to maximize the use of all living areas.

Sales at Cadence, Central Block’s predecessor on Quadra Street at Palmer Road, have been brisk with the offering 90% sold-out. Purchasers were drawn to Cadence for its modern layouts and interiors at attainable price points. Abstract’s Bellewood Park development in Victoria’s Rockland neighbourhood, meanwhile, is over 95% sold-out as residents move in to its newly completed homes.

While Central Block’s presentation centre nears completion at Abstract’s new Home Store on Douglas Street at Tolmie Avenue, individuals can pre-register for pre-sale announcements by visiting the project’s website here. C
