A luxury waterfront condominium residence along the shores of Sooke Harbour has reached a major sales milestone as the spring buying season gets into full swing, Citified has learned.

The Residences on Sooke Harbour is celebrating 50% sold-out status of its collection of one, two and three-bedroom suites coming soon to Maple Avenue South in Sooke’s town centre.

“The Residences’ oceanfront setting overlooking Sooke Harbour has generated a strong interest among purchasers who are ready to retire from city life, so-to-speak, and pursue a quieter, more down-to-earth setting for their next home,” says Jesse Fitzpatrick, a partner at development firm Fitzpatrick Enterprises.

Work on the four-storey, 27-home project is set to get underway soon adjacent to the highly acclaimed Wild Mountain restaurant. And its status as the only seaside pre-sale purchase opportunity outside of Victoria’s urban core, coupled with true waterfront living at an attainable price, sets the Residences apart from other offerings.

“Speaking of value, Sooke remains the last stand on real-estate prices on southern Vancouver Island and its waterfront properties remain to a large extent undiscovered,” Fitzpatrick says. “In terms of making an investment or getting in ahead of the curve, Sooke is a community where that possibility is most defined given its growth prospects and increasing appeal.”

Home to over 13,000 residents, the District of Sooke is the western-most suburb on Victoria’s Westshore, an area that spans along the Highway 14 corridor from Colwood to the east and westward to Sooke.

Situated mid-way between the remote fishing village of Port Renfrew and the business centre of Victoria, Sooke also represents the transition from the urbanity of the Capital Region to the wilds and ruggedness of Vancouver Island’s west coast, where the vastness of the Island’s temperate rain forests dominate the landscape and the Salish Sea serves as a backdrop for a endless wilderness beyond.

Over the last decade Sooke’s popularity as a tourism destination and its population growth have brought about more retail services and amenities, and soon one of the largest highway improvements on Vancouver Island will begin east of the town centre.

Valued at $86 million, the provincial and federal governments have announced a plan to re-align a portion of the highway heading into Sooke while expanding a 1.2 kilometre section from two lanes to four. The impact of that investment, Fitzpatrick believes, presents a rare opportunity for local residents and businesses.

“By opening the town to more investment and the capacity to welcome more growth, the highway expansion project is a big nod to the future of Sooke and the coastal communities beyond. Our purchasers are thrilled that by the time they move in to their new homes, the work will be well underway and that commensurate value will translate into their investment.”

Fitzpatrick says construction of The Residences will begin by early July with completion earmarked for early 2021. A variety of suite layouts remain available, including one-bedroom homes and expansive larger suites, all with sweeping ocean views.
