The Capital Region Housing Corporation (CRHC) has submitted plans to the District of Saanich seeking approvals for the replacement 12 affordable townhomes along McCoy Road adjacent to Velox Field.

The CRHC’s proposal for its Campus View property at 2249 McCoy Road calls for nearly 120-units of affordable rental housing within two six-storey buildings. Parking will be in the form of an underground parkade, while a common courtyard will be situated between the two buildings.
Campus View is situated between McCoy Road to the north and McKenzie Avenue to the south, although the land’s vehicular access is limited to McCoy Road. The new plans will maintain that access while pedestrians will have a path connecting McKenzie Road.
West and east of the property is Velox Field and a parcel belonging to the University of Victoria (UVic), respectively. The main UVic campus is immediately south of the property on the opposite side of McKenzie Avenue.
The existing townhomes are family-oriented, featuring three-bedroom layouts and a single parking stall per unit. The residences are offered at below-market rents, including subsidized options.
The CRHC is currently engaged in numerous affordable rental projects and the redevelopment of existing lower density properties that include the Caledonia proposal adjacent to Victoria High School in Fernwood, and Michigan Square along Michigan Street in James Bay that is now progressing to construction.
