A Toronto-based waste management conglomerate has acquired the waste disposal unit of one of the Capital Region’s oldest and most recognizable companies.
Alpine Group’s Evergreen Industries Ltd. has been purchased by GFL Environmental, a multi-billion dollar waste management behemoth with operations dotting the entire continent.
GLF’s purchase, the value of which has not been disclosed, does not include Alpine Group’s marine, automotive, trucking, passenger transport and food services subsidiaries. The sale was revealed in late July, although neither Alpine Group nor GFL would comment on the deal.
Founded 35-years-ago by Langford mayor Stew Young, Alpine Group operates with over 30 divisions across British Columbia and employs several hundred individuals. The Langford-based company remains family-operated. C
