Save-On-Foods is set to open downtown Victoria’s first-ever full-service grocery store as early as August 8th in the ground floor of BlueSky Properties’ 1008 Pandora project.
Under construction since 2017 on Pandora Avenue at Vancouver Street, the six-storey, 195-unit purpose-built rental complex with nearly 50,000 square feet of retail space will be anchored by a 37,000 square foot Save-On-Foods with free underground parking. The space is approximately twice the size of the Market on Yates, situated along the 900-block of Yates Street, which has operated as downtown Victoria’s primary grocery for two decades.

Metro Vancouver-based Save-On-Foods will operate eight locations throughout the Capital Region including the chain’s downtown Victoria location, which will become the third store within the City of Victoria.
Meanwhile operators of the nearby Wellburn’s Market, a local grocery outlet on Pandora Avenue at Cook Street that has served the North Park and Harris Green neighbourhoods for generations, will be closing next year to make way for the redevelopment of the Wellburn’s Building it currently anchors. The project, known as Parkway, will be comprised of rental apartments and modern retail spaces. C
