Uptown Shopping Centre developer Morguard is seeking approvals to build the fourth and last phase of the project in the form of an 11-storey residential tower with over 55,000 square feet of ground floor commercial space.
Planned for Carey Road at Ravine Way, Morguard envisions 134 rental units in one bedroom, two bedroom and townhome layouts in what will become the tallest building in Saanich. Homes will range between 603 and 1,012 square feet and will be situated throughout a two wing design (rising to nine and eleven floors) between a communal green space.
A total of 38 gated resident-only parking stalls will be provided beneath the tower with another 57 stalls allocated for residents in Uptown's general purpose parking areas.
Ground floor commercial spaces will be accessible via Uptown Boulevard, and once built will push Uptown’s total massing to over one million square feet.
A public hearing is expected to be scheduled later this year with a construction start in 2017. Completion is anticipated by late 2018 or early 2019.
Currently under construction at Uptown is the 40,000 square foot third phase anchored by a Whole Foods grocery store at the intersection of Blanshard Street and Ravine Way. Completion is expected this fall. C
