A local food truck operator is putting down roots to open downtown Victoria’s first brick-and-mortar poutinerie.
L’Authentique Poutine & Burgers, which for years has roved around Victoria’s streets to supply local festivals and events with authentic Quebecois poutine and accompany burger dishes, will open later this year along the 1200-block of Wharf Street between Fort and Yates streets.
“Poutine was created in my hometown of Warwick Quebec in 1957,” writes L’Authentique’s owner, Sebastien on the company's website. “Growing up with the true taste of poutine paired with several years of experience working at my local cheese factory and helping my father in the restaurant industry is what led to L’Authentique's genuine recipes.”
Tenant improvements along with an expansion of an upper deck are currently taking place at 100-1208 Wharf Street to accommodate the eatery.
Patrons can expect L’Authentique to open later this year. With a 4.7 rating on Google, a 5.0 rating on Facebook and a solid 4-star rating on Yelp, the poutinerie will no doubt be a popular addition to Victoria’s dining scene.
In the meantime, the food truck can typically be spotted at the Fountain Tire lot on Jacklin Road at Langford Parkway on the Westshore. C
