A proposal to redevelop a commercial building home to several popular Chinatown businesses is in its early community consultation stage, Citified has learned.
Planned for a property at 550-558 Pandora Avenue currently occupied by a single-storey retail frontage is a lowrise development containing some 40 residential units and a ground floor retail component.
As part of the redevelopment effort, existing building tenants Mo:Le Restaurant, the original location of Habit Coffee, Cafe Bliss, Cavity Curiosity Shop and The Vorpal Gnome could re-locate to alternative spaces in downtown Victoria or situate within the future building.
Patrons and fans of the businesses need not worry about imminent closures or relocation efforts just yet, as leases remain in place that could see the storefronts operate in their lower Pandora Avenue locations for several years to come.
Pending municipal approvals, the project is not expected to proceed to the demolition stage until 2020 at the earliest. C
