The West Shore’s townhome market has stepped into a new era of design with the Willow + Glen community (see website) from award-winning Victoria-based Abstract Developments.

Situated in the City of Langford’s ‘lake district’ near the intersection of Jacklin Road and Sooke Road, Abstract’s first West Shore project has delivered a collection of nature-inspired three and four-bedroom residences featuring timeless exterior design, professionally curated interiors, and family-friendly amenities all in walking distance to some of the West Shore’s best natural landmarks and parkland.

Abstract spared no details in staging its recently opened display home at Willow + Glen showcasing the lengths to which the company’s designers went in creating functional and practical family-sized layouts in spacious three and four-bedroom floorplans, where space is maximized and utility is top-of-mind.

“Visitors to our nearly move in-ready townhomes at Willow + Glen are in for a real treat. Our newest community approaching occupancy also represents an evolution of housing on the West Shore, where early 20th century-inspired architectural design reminiscent of Oak Bay’s and Fairfield’s stately homes meets modern floorplans for practical, attainable and family-focused multi-storey living,” says Jessica Russel, Abstract Developments’ Sales Manager.

Russel goes on to say: “our on-site display home was staged by the well known Laura Melling Studio out of Vancouver, and is a true spectacle. Laura took an efficient and very thoughtfully designed home and showed truly how beautiful of a space it is with expertly selected furnishings and design details. Working with such a knowledgeable and experienced interior designer has been fabulous, and the results are spectacular.”

Featuring two outdoor spaces, every Willow + Glen townhome makes the most of Victoria’s mild climate, by featuring a ground floor private living area, and a generous second level balcony. Natural light fills each unit through expansive windows, as over-height nine-foot ceilings make any room feel bright and welcoming. Low maintenance, brushed oak laminate flooring is well matched to high quality cabinetry and accents, available in two subtle colour combinations that Abstract says help create a “sense of serenity.”

Willow + Glen is situated along the Galloping Goose Regional Trail, making cycling as a transportation choice into downtown Langford and downtown Victoria seamless. For residents relying on transit services, Willow + Glen benefits from a transit mainline connecting downtown Victoria in the AM rush hours and back again from Victoria in the PM, with all-day service to nearby Langford Exchange where multiple transit lines converge.

Access to Highway 1 is a breeze via West Shore Parkway or Veterans Memorial Parkway, and Highway 14 parallels a portion of the Willow + Glen property to easily connect to popular destinations like Sooke, Jordan River and Port Renfrew along the Capital’s wild west coast oceanfront.

For recreation, nearby Glen Lake and Langford Lake make for memorable summer days with the kids. A walking trail into Happy Valley’s picturesque landscapes on the Galloping Goose is at Willow + Glen’s doorstep, while Colwood Creek Park is a family-friendly green space just minutes away, as is Fischer Trail, leading to a small lake west of Glen Lake.

Additionally, Willow + Glen's amenity green space, known as Bodman Park in homage of the family that resided on the property for several generations, will include a play area for kids amid professionally landscaped parkland.

“Many Victorians may not realize how family-friendly and full of recreational activities Langford and Colwood are, particularly in the vicinity of their shared border on Jacklin Road at Sooke Road,” Russel says. “Our buyers say they have become enchanted by the possibilities of the area, and their kids love the many playgrounds and places to ride their bikes.”

For shopping amenities, the West Shore boasts some of the best retail services and experiences of the Capital Region. Costco is a short drive away, as are big-box stores like Home Depot, Rona, SuperStore and Wal Mart. A growing number of food establishments offer everything from fine dining with amazing views, to local chains specializing in ethnic dishes, to some of the best national and international restaurant brands.

Several shopping malls and retail centres are close by, including West Shore Town Centre, Belmont Market and Colwood Corners, providing a growing array of amenities, local businesses and popular chains.

As Abstract Developments grows into the West Shore’s housing market, the company’s award-winning homes will be available for the first time beyond Victoria’s urban core, where the company has made a name for itself as one of the most reputable and desirable new-build housing providers for residences from across the housing spectrum. And projects like Willow + Glen, says Tavish Rai, Abstract’s CEO, are just the beginning of Abstract’s westward expansion.

“Abstract is committed to developing new homes on the West Shore, arguably among the most desirable housing markets in British Columbia. And thanks to its natural setting close to nature and recreational opportunities, the West Shore is a gem among family-friendly housing communities on southern Vancouver Island,” Rai said, adding that “Willow + Glen is a considerable milestone for Abstract, which for nearly 25 years has been creating high quality, thoughtfully built homes that have become landmarks in the communities they’ve helped grow.”
