A five-storey mixed-use office and industrial building has been proposed for the 500-block of John Street in the City of Victoria's Burnside neighbourhood.
Designed by Victoria-based architectural firm Eric Barker Architect, the 10,283 square foot building planned for a narrow lot at 584 John Street will house the offices and storage space of a local construction contractor. Drawing inspiration from modern takes on industrial design, architects have envisioned large areas of glass and cascading terraces along the building's street frontage in the hopes of delivering a product much at odds with the nondescript architecture of the immediate area.
The building's ground floor will accommodate parking for 10 vehicles and storage. Floors two-through-five will be used for office space, industrial or storage space with each floor separable into individual commercial units. A rooftop common area will include several trees and shrubbery, a first for Burnside's industrial zone.
Provided approvals are secured by late spring, the owner plans to begin construction by year's end. C
