The Capital Region's third Winners discount clothing and housewares store will open next year at downtown Victoria's Bay Centre, Citified has learned.

Earlier today the retail hub's management issued a statement announcing the start of retail environment "enhancements" that will culminate with the opening of a multi-level retail destination at the Bay Centre's Douglas and View streets frontages.

"Our goal is to become a shoppers' first destination by welcoming new tenants, events, and partners as we embrace the overall growth of downtown,” says Darlene Hollstein, General Manager of The Bay Centre. "Over the long-term, the realignment of the stores and services that are in The Bay Centre is intended to further enhance the shopping experience for those who live, work, and play downtown."

Hours after Hollstein's announcement a contributor to Citified's partner website VibrantVictoria posted architectural plans detailing the location of a Winners store within the Bay Centre.

The schematics identify an approximately 20,000 square foot, two-level commercial space at the mall's northeast corner.

Although Bay Centre management has not officially confirmed Winners as the upcoming tenant, the store's targeted opening date will be in the spring of 2019.

Winners stores in the Capital Region are located at Tillicum Shopping Centre in Saanich and at Langford's Westshore Town Centre. TJX Companies, Winners' parent company, also operates a Marshalls store at Victoria's Hillside Shopping Centre and two HomeSense stores at Saanich's Island Home Centre and at Westshore Town Centre.

Covering one full city block in the centre of Victoria's shopping district, The Bay Centre has a mix of over 90 street front and interior shops where you'll find unique, quality brands, diverse dining options, and exceptional service in an urban shopping environment.

Featured retailers include The Hudson's Bay Company, Le Chateau, GoodLife Fitness, Eco Chic AVEDA Salon & Spa, L'Occitane En Provence, Urban Planet, Sport Chek, The Tuscan Kitchen, Below the Belt and soon a Winners.

The Bay Centre is owned by Manulife Real Estate and managed by Cushman & Wakefield Asset Services Inc. C
