An early childhood centre and day care has been pitched for a surface parking lot behind Pearkes Recreation Centre in Saanich, Citified has learned.
Proposed as an expansion of child care services currently offered by Saanich Neighbourhood Place, the single-storey, 7,200 square foot facility – planned for 3100 Tillicum Road near Tillicum Centre – will accommodate 49 children as well as community meeting and event spaces.
Child care rooms and an outdoor play area will front onto the heavily forested Tillicum Park behind the recreation centre, which connects to Cuthbert Holmes Park, while the building design will incorporate queues fitting of its natural setting.
Pending final approvals from the municipality, construction could be underway as early as this year. C
