A competition-style indoor golf simulator where patrons can practice the game in a stress-free, lounge-like atmosphere is opening this spring near Saanich’s Uptown Shopping Centre.
In the first week of April Iron & Wood Golf Simulators plans to unveil an immersive and interactive digital golfing experience with semi-private rooms accommodating up to six players each.
“Each climate-controlled private room features 84 championship golf courses and 12 multisport games that range from hockey, baseball and even zombie dodgeball,” reads the company’s description of its digital entertainment options that will be available in three individual rooms.
Iron & Wood is applying for a liquor license for its facility at 3453 Saanich Road in a complex shared by a BMO Bank of Montreal branch.
Introductory hourly rates will range from $40 to $45 per room.
Iron & Wood’s arrival in Saanich will materialize as one of two entertainment venues in the Uptown area.
Last year a proposal for a nearly 650-seat restaurant complete with a bowling alley and pub-style games was received by Saanich for a commercial unit at Uptown Shopping Centre.
Known as The Banquet at Uptown, the two-storey venue will include 11 bowling lanes, a turf area and an outside deck on the roof of Uptown’s Douglas Street frontage. The operation could get underway this year or next. C
