A 90-unit residential complex has been proposed for Torquay Drive at Shelbourne Street in Saanich’s Gordon Head neighbourhood.

Number 10 Architecture has envisioned a four and five-storey C-shaped design for a land parcel currently home to a collection of eight townhouses.
Although proposal details are limited at this time, the landscaping plan is depicted as including a pathway around the building’s perimeter which appears to connect to a series of ground-oriented residential suites separated by water elements and bridged crossings. The property also incorporates amenities such as a children’s play park and several “naturalistic” fitness areas.
The primary vehicle entrance is off Torquay Drive and leads to an underground parking component.
Rooftop amenities will include seating areas, garden spaces with a lawn, and an outdoor cooking/barbecue area.
The proposal, however, is not currently identified as a rental property or as a strata-titled condominium.
The Gordon Head area of Saanich has seen several high density housing proposals emerge in recent months that include the redevelopment of University Heights Shopping Centre into a mixed-use commercial node with over 600 residential units and plans to deliver nearly 80 condominiums and townhomes to Gordon Head Road at Feltham Road.
Meanwhile the University of Victoria, which borders Gordon Head, is moving forward with plans to build 600-units of on-campus housing as NVision Properties nears the construction start of a 76-unit rental building on Shelbourne Street at McKenzie Avenue kitty-corner from University Heights Shopping Centre. And already approved is a 68-unit condominium project from developer Kang & Gill to the north of University Heights along Shelbourne Street. C
