A surface parking lot on Store Street between the newly completed Janion micro-loft project and the Mermaid Wharf condominium complex is slated for redevelopment, Citified has learned.
Although sources remain mum on the exact details of the proposal, the parking lot, situated in Chinatown at 1628 Store Street near Pandora Avenue, is eyed for a four-storey condominium residence that will contain a varied mix of units and ground floor commercial spaces.
Envisioned by Victoria-based D’Ambrosio Architecture – the firm that designed downtown Victoria’s Atrium and 1515 Douglas office buildings – the proposal is expected to visually tie in with its Chinatown and Old Town surroundings.
A neighbourhood information session between project proponents and nearby neighbours has been scheduled for the end of the month.
At-present information on specific unit sizes, pricing and construction timelines is not available.
Victoria’s Chinatown is undergoing a renaissance with multiple residential developments having recently been completed, several nearing the pre-sales phase and one currently under construction. C
