A vacant land parcel formally home to a gas station at the corner of Hillside Avenue and Cook Street could be transformed into a six-storey purpose-built rental project, Citified has learned.
Victoria-based NVision Properties is proposing to build a 46-unit apartment complex at 1301 Hillside Avenue. The building is planned to consist of a mix of studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom suites with on-site parking capacity for 25 vehicles.
The 13,400 square foot property has sat vacant for over a decade while undergoing remediation and site clean up efforts.
The proposal is currently before the City of Victoria. Pending rezoning and development approvals, construction could start as early as next year with completion by 2020 or 2021.
Nvision Properties is one of several local development firms aggressively pursuing purpose-built rental developments throughout the Capital region. In addition to several projects in the early stages of conception, the company is currently in the planning and municipal approvals stages for a six-storey, 78-unit building at the corner of Shelbourne Street and McKenzie Avenue in Saanich. That project, also on land formerly occupied by a gas station, could be underway by next year. And on the south side of Saanich NVision has already begun construction on 433 Boleskine Road, a five-storey rental building comprised of 95-units. Occupancy is expected by early-to-mid 2019. C
