The West Shore’s newest rental complex to get underway will rise along the 800-block of Orono Avenue in downtown Langford, as Gordon 'N Gordon Interiors moves forward on a 106-unit apartment building between Jacklin and Peatt roads.
The company, mostly known for its interior construction services, is building a residential block to house workers of the firm, and to provide workforce rentals to the broader community.
Known as Gordon Place Apartments, the six-storey woodframe will offer one and two-bedroom homes, along with underground parking, and will be the latest of multiple high density residential buildings that have transformed the once single-family-home-dominated block of Orono Avenue into a burgeoning quadrant of downtown Langford.
With construction now underway, occupancy may occur by late 2025 or early 2026.
In the immediate vicinity, meanwhile, Viking Properties is in the early stages of constructing its Central Station condominium along Station Avenue with frontage extending to Meaford Avenue, east of Peatt Road. Also underway nearby is Ovis One from Ovis Group, a ten-storey rental mid-rise along the 2800-block of Jacklin Road opposite the western end of Hockley Avenue.
According to Citified’s construction data tracking, currently on the West Shore, including Sooke, approximately 1,500 rental apartments are under construction with completion earmarked for 2024 through 2027. C
