A study commissioned by the Victoria Airport Authority has determined that Victoria International Airport's annual economic impact on British Columbia is nearly $900 million.
The findings by interVISTAS Consulting show that the Island's busiest airport generated 4,200 person years of employment, $270 million in wages throughout British Columbia, $420 million in gross domestic product and $880 million in economic output.
A total of 4,700 individuals are directly and indirectly employed through the airport's operations, which translates to 4,200 full-time equivalents (FTEs).
