Following its exodus from downtown Victoria earlier this year, Floyd’s Diner is expanding to Saanich with restaurant number three …for the second time.
The popular chain of breakfast eateries will open next month in the former Olive Grove restaurant space at 4496 West Saanich Road near Viewmont Avenue.
With the dark brown Olive Grove building having recently received Floyd's trademark touch, a hot pink exterior paint job, staff confirm the diner will be ready for patrons by the second week of April.
Home of the double-or-nothing Mahoney dish, which if ordered is left up to the cooks to concoct and the bill is either free or not-so-free following a coin flip, Floyd’s became a staple of Victoria’s breakfast scene when it opened in the early 2000’s along the 800-block of Yates Street at Quadra Street.
The company has since expanded to the Westshore along Station Avenue in Langford, and to Victoria’s James Bay neighbourhood on Menzies Street at Superior Street. Location number three in James Bay soon became location number two when the downtown location shuttered on New Year's Day, 2019 after 15-years in business.
With the West Saanich Road eatery coming soon, Floyd’s will be back to three locations.
Will location number four materialize? You can (probably) bet on it. C
