On October 1st Victoria’s Cool Aid Society is set to host its first annual fundraiser in support of the organization’s goal of raising $5 million towards local housing initiatives and services.

Called Homecoming: A Night Out to End All Nights Out, the event is billed as an “unforgettable evening under the stars” featuring “comfort food favourites with a sophisticated twist,” local beverages and live music.

Organizers also plan to raise awareness about Cool Aid’s services and its goal of ending homelessness on southern Vancouver Island.

“[The] signature event will focus on housing as the key to ending homelessness in our community. Through a series of activities and displays, guests will learn more about the valuable programs and services that the Victoria Cool Aid Society continues to provide throughout the community, and why the generosity of everyone in attendance is so important,” reads a statement prepared by Cool Aid.

Victoria’s Brink Events is organizing the gala and plans to host patrons in a large see-through tent overlooking Victoria’s Inner Harbour at Ship Point.

Sponsors will present “rooms” within the tent, while stand-up spaces and seating will be available in a variety of configurations throughout the space.

Tickets are available for $125 per person and include all food and alcoholic beverages. The event is scheduled between 6PM and 9PM on Saturday, October 1st at Ship Point near the Tourism Information Centre at the nexus of Government, Humboldt and Wharf streets.

The Victoria Cool Aid Society operates shelters in the City of Victoria and manages full-time residences for over 400 individuals throughout the region. Cool Aid is currently involved in the creation of an additional 360 housing units that are at various stages of planning, conversion and construction.
