Proposed trampoline park gets bounced from Blanshard Street retail space

The peculiar case of a planned trampoline park north of Victoria’s downtown core has left locals full of questions and a landlord puzzled.

Utah-based Get Air Sports announced last spring via Facebook that the indoor recreation company would be opening a Victoria location at 2608 Blanshard Street adjacent to a Tim Hortons restaurant.

Since then Get Air Victoria’s Facebook page has blossomed to over 5,000 fans and questions posed to the company by the public have been met with cordial responses indicating the operation would open soon, despite little activity at the park’s purported future home.

Fast-forwarding to March of this year, a post on VibrantVictoria’s Facebook page reiterating Get Air Victoria’s announced plans, garnered a surprising response from 2608 Blanshard’s property manager.

“There will be no trampoline park going into the space that was formerly Jordan's or anywhere else on the property,” wrote Jenn Bouchard of Denfor Investments Inc., adding that Get Air Victoria has been asked to remove all references to their location pertaining to Bouchard’s property.

Bouchard also reiterated that “there is definitely zero chance they will be moving to our location now or in the future.”

Three days since the request to nix Get Air Victoria’s wishful spot, the company continues to list 2608 Blanshard Street as their address while recent responses to Facebook enquiries suggest the operation is, strangely enough, on-track.

“We don't have an official opening date, but once we do, we'll make sure to update our Facebook page! It takes quite a while to build a trampoline park, so thanks for being patient with us,” wrote Get Air Victoria on March 10th.

The peculiarities don’t end there, however.

Several individuals have already reviewed Get Air Victoria, with one woman having claimed she’d visited the trampoline park while others gave the operation five-stars and had trouble holding back their excitement.

“Went to Get Air Victoria and it was the best time I've ever had,” wrote Cenline Dunlop.

“My family loves Get Air, we highly recommend going,” wrote Julie Hopkins.

Interestingly, both Ms. Dunlop and Ms. Hopkins live outside of Victoria, the former in Abbotsford and the latter in Riverview, New Brunswick.

Calls to the company’s head office by Citified asking for clarification were not returned.

For now, at least, the curious case of a future trampoline park that is already open but is nowhere to be seen will remain a mystery. C
