Hockley House, comprised of one and two-bedroom suites with rental rates ranging from $1,400 to $1,800, is the latest project from the Capital Region Housing Corporation (CRHC) which recently delivered affordable homes to View Royal at West Park and in Langford at Spencer Close under the Regional Housing First Program.

Newly built at 830 Hockley Avenue among a growing number of rental buildings, office blocks and condominiums, Hockley House is also part of a strategy rolled out by south Island politicians and provincial authorities to house individuals at-risk of or experiencing homelessness in the Capital Region. A collection of suites within the complex will be income-assisted under that program.

Parking is in the form of covered surface stalls and underground stalls, available for a monthly fee on top of rental rates. The building is smoke-free, and permits cats.

In addition to Hockley House, the CRHC currently has vacancies at Millstream Ridge and Spencer Close in Langford, at West Park in View Royal, at Vergo in Saanich (on Carey Road) and at the Cairns Park townhouse community in Sidney.

Meanwhile, construction is underway on nine projects across the Capital with affordable housing ranging from below-market family and singles homes, seniors residences, homes for individuals at-risk of homelessness, and local First Nations, totalling some 800-units. Among them are 170-affordable apartments in Sooke130-units in downtown Victoria, and 124-units of First Nations housing on Wale Road in Colwood. In addition to the inventory underway, the provincial and federal governments recently announced funding for six supportive housing projects in Victoria, Saanich and Central Saanich, with targetting completions by between 2022 and 2023.
