Esquimalt is looking to non-profit and market housing providers to assess the viability of a multi-family housing project on a municipally-owned vacant lot next to Lampson Ball Fields.
As a component of the township’s goal of increasing housing within the municipality, a parcel at 867 Lampson Street between Ellery Street and Craigflower Road may be dispositioned, provided the development community can formulate a financially workable vision for the land.
“Currently the official land use designation for the area is single-family and two-family dwellings, with the potential to build townhouses. Having said that, the official community plan is under review and depending on the outcome the designation could change,” said Trevor Parkes, senior planner at the Township of Esquimalt.
Expressions of interest from developers are being sought until the end of this week.
Pending the nature of applications, the township will formalize its position on the land later this year or by early next year. C
