The Cook Street Village’s sole liquor store is on the move, according to documents filed with the City of Victoria.
3DS Ventures Inc., operators of Cook St. Liquor at 109-230 Cook Street, has an application before the municipality to rezone the former RBC Royal Bank branch at the intersection of Cook and Sutlej streets in order to permit the sale of liquor.
3DS Ventures’ application states the relocation will provide their business “a strong street-front location” and will “stabilize” their operations in the Village.
In addition to upgrading the interior and exterior of the building, 3DS Ventures plans to install six additional bicycle parking spaces (bringing the total to eight), replace cracked and mismatched paving stones along the building frontage, and landscape the perimeter of the property together with the use of a trellis along the southern wall for the purpose of growing ornamental hops.
RBC closed its Cook Street Village branch in 2016 citing declining clientele volumes and a drop in revenues.
Pending municipal approvals expected before the end of the year, the relocation of the liquor store is expected to take place in 2018. C
