The former Andrew Sheret Splashes Bath and Kitchen showroom in the 700-block of Bay Street will be redeveloped into a BCAA Auto Service Centre.
The building supply retailer relocated in 2015 to a facility incorporated into a newly-built six-storey office and retail complex in the 700-block of Hillside Avenue.
The proposed two-storey automotive centre, similar in design and scope to one completed earlier this year in Nanaimo, will include nine auto service bays, a car wash and detailing station, and offices.
The BCAA development is one of a number of auto-oriented projects to surface in recent years along the upper Douglas Street corridor.
Earlier this year a single-storey express oil change facility was erected two blocks south of the proposed BCAA site, between Queens Avenue and Field Street. On Douglas Street at Finlayson Street, Jim Pattison Toyota Victoria recently opened a new showroom as part of a relocation effort from the dealership’s location one block to the north. The project came on the heels of a new Land Rover dealership on Douglas Street at Audley Street, which followed the redevelopment of Victoria’s Volkswagen and Porsche dealerships one block to the south. And expected to open by the end of the decade, a new Audi dealership will replace a vacant lot on Douglas Street at Summit Avenue. C
